Anyone who follows me knows I'm crazy about sherry. I first visited the Sherry Triangle in 2021, and I've been back every year since. Sometimes for Vinoble, other times for Copa Jerez Or a press trip. In September 2024, I was there for the Sherry Educator Course, which I successfully completed. It's fantastic, and I discover something new every time. You can find the best spots in this blog.

And while you're there, spend a day in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (about a fifteen-minute drive from Jerez). Stop by Casa Balbino and order their tortillitas de camarones with a glass of manzanilla – shouts from the bar just like the locals . I wrote a separate blog post about my experiences in Sanlúcar, which you can read here .

In Seville, I recommend eating at Eslava and trying the Manchego gelato. It sounds awful, but it's incredibly delicious.

Food & Drink

Albariza and Las Venas

Rocio, the sommelier at Tohqa (see below), has opened her own wine bar in Jerez together with her partner. It is located roughly between the city center and the Sherry Park Hotel , so you'll definitely want to stop by, and if not, it's well worth the detour. They serve a wide variety of local wines by the glass, including vino de pasto and, of course, sherry.

You'll also find a large selection by the bottle from the rest of Spain, as well as plenty of Burgundy, Jura, and Champagne (including Coteaux Champenoise). In short, this is a must-see. Rocio ( @rociosomm ) also produces a Spanish podcast about wine with the same partner. ariza en Las Venas is located at Divina Pastora 3 in Jerez (see card ).

The Carboná

La Carboná is fantastic and truly deserves a star. Immerse yourself in the sherry and go for the sherry menu with the sherry pairing. You won't believe your eyes.

Starred restaurants: Lu and Mantua

There are two Michelin-starred restaurants in Jerez: Lú Cocina y Alma and Mantúa . Lú's cuisine is French-oriented, while Mantúa focuses more on local ingredients. There was only room at Lú, so we went there, and it was very good. The restaurant has an open kitchen and futuristic wallpaper. The staff is a bit stiff, but that doesn't spoil the fun. Beautiful dishes, fantastic bread (three kinds of light bread), and also surprising wines (also included in the package), including – we got it blind – a Yellow Wine from the Jura. Funny!

In June 2025, I also went to Mantúa. To be honest, it was a bit stiff, but hey, that's probably just the way it is with Michelin-starred restaurants (yes, with some exceptions). As an aperitif, we were served a manzanilla I'd never heard of: Celada 'Very Old' Manzanilla Sherry. Absolutely beautiful!

I can't give a full review, but I know the whole group of us were impressed with the dishes. Refined and incredibly flavorful. Definitely worth a visit.

Bar Gloria

Bar Gloria is definitely a must-visit. The funny thing is that everyone here is drinking a caña (small beer), even though they have a huge selection of (great) wines. Sherry, of course, but also a large selection of wine. The menu changes regularly, but classics like jamón and croquetas will undoubtedly always be there. We also found mini tacos. What a life!

Bistro Bina

Lú Cocina's bistro sister, near the Sherry Park Hotel. Unpretentious and very relaxed, with the most delicious croquettes imaginable. Just like Bar Gloria, you'll also find a good wine list, including vino de pasta.

Hot tip: take your dessert with you Krombol , a coffee shop almost next to Bina Bar. Great!

Tohqa in El Puerto de Santa Maria

Willy Perez recommended Tohqa, a recently opened and quite experimental restaurant in El Puerto de Santa Maria. Think: live shrimp and tuna hearts shaped like lollipops. It was intense and not necessarily the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. But the atmosphere was great, the location was beautiful – a semi-open space with lots of botanical plants – and the sommelier was fantastic. The other dishes were less experimental and incredibly delicious: a caramelized onion with hazelnuts and oloroso. Well, go ahead and shoot me. The dessert made with the lees (yeast cells) was also phenomenal. I believe you can also order a regular menu or à la carte.

Producers

There are too many to fit into one blog post, so I recommend you read the blogs below and see which producer best suits your preferences.

To sleep

My favorite hotel in Jerez is the Sherry Park Hotel . It's a bit dated in places, and the average age is over 70, but it's still a great place. The breakfast is good and extensive, the rooms are spacious and (I think all of them?) have a balcony. There's a vermuteria where you can eat well, and a large swimming pool with its own pool bar. The center of Jerez is about a 10-minute walk away.

In the center of Jerez, you'll find the Tio Pepe Hotel . It's a beautiful boutique hotel next to Gonzalez Byass's bodega (you can safely skip the tourist tour). It has wonderful beds, a rooftop terrace with a small pool, and a fantastic breakfast. Compared to the Sherry Park Hotel, I think it's a bit overpriced.
