I regularly get asked on Instagram or during a wine course whether I fun podcasts about wine I know. Of course I do! Since I've been driving more often lately, or just getting a little tired of the endless studying/reading, I've delved into the world of podcasts. And it's wonderful!

Below you'll find my favorite wine podcasts.

In April 2024 I made another list with favorite podcast episodes from various creators. Don't miss them!

Le Club & Sommeljj de Wijnpodcast
Let's start with some shameless self-promotion, because I've created my own podcast with Jan Jaap (better known as @sommeljj). We can't stop talking about wine and are recording our chatter in a podcast .

Matthew's World of Wine & Drink

I was so happy when I discovered this podcast! Matthew has completed all the WSET courses and now teaches wine courses himself (sound familiar?). It all started with recording his WSET adventures on his blog , but he's now also added a podcast. No entertainment or lengthy interviews, just bite-sized information. Matthew takes the key points from your course book (WSET3 level) and presents them in short but powerful podcasts of about fifteen minutes each. Perfect, right? All regions are covered, he also does a round of spirits, and I see... as we speak There's a new podcast about a wine concept we'll never stop talking about: "bottom." I'm curious!

Guild sum

While Matthew fills the podcast solo, GuildSomm rarely features just one person behind the mic. Often, it's in the form of interviews, which isn't surprising. For the episode "Sweet Wines," for example, Jean-Philippe Lemoine of Chateau d'Yquem was brought in. A top executive from Royal Tokaji was also asked for his opinion. The podcasts usually last about 45 to 60 minutes. It's more detailed than Matthew's podcast, which is sometimes nice, but sometimes you wonder if you really want all that detail. Anyway, I, for example, have the podcast All About Yeast Listened to it a few times for the Unit 2 exam (viticulture & vinification). It helped me get everything in order. Also the interview with Frédéric Panaiotis Ruinart's music is fun to listen to if you want to know more about the ins and outs of the second fermentation.

I'll drink to that! Talking wine

“A former sommelier [Levi Dalton] interviews incredibly famous and knowledgeable wine personalities in his tiny apartment.”

That sounds nice, right? It's like you're missing the mark. While I was writing this blog, I had just listened to the episode where he interviews Jasper Morris. It was great, because I just finished the book. Inside Burgundy I ordered from this gentleman. He talks about how he got into wine (older sister), what the wine world was like in the 80s (more and primarily men), and of course, about his experiences in Burgundy. It's incredibly informative, not pretentious, but enjoyable. This might be my favorite wine podcast... It seems Levi makes what he feels like. Sometimes that's a podcast about aligoté and sometimes an interview with Steven Spurrier (recommended!).

Clear Wine

Antoine Peeters, RTL newsreader, is a huge wine fan and, together with Ernst-Jan Overduin, creates the podcast Klare Wijn (Clear Wine). The podcast explains wine in plain language without—as they themselves write on their website—technical jargon or snobbish language. Often, a guest joins the podcast. This could be a winemaker, a sommelier, or another wine industry professional. One of my favorite episodes is the one about Burgundy with Joep Speet. Highly recommended!

Wine for Normal People

The name says it all: this podcast is for regular people. No elitist nonsense or snobbish nonsense. Elizabeth Schneider is supported by her husband, who goes by MC Ice in the podcast, and keeps her on track when she goes too far in describing a region or wine style. It's an informative podcast, but very American. You could compare it to a Dutch podcast by someone with a strong Amsterdam accent.

I'll continue listening happily...

In the meantime, I'll keep listening. If I find any new podcasts I find worthwhile, I'll add them. Do you have a wine podcast of your own that isn't listed here but should be? Let me know.
