Eric Asimov, the wine writer for The New York Times, published a great article last week: 20 Wines to Drink Right Now . What they have in common? They're light, fresh wines with lower alcohol and low tannins. Exactly my vibe. I don't know how easy it is to find these wines here, so I've compiled my own top 5.

Domaine Chapel, Beaujolais-Villages 2021

If you're looking for wines that fall into the category of light, fresh, not too high in alcohol, and low in tannin, then Beaujolais is the obvious choice. It's my go-to wine. I might even prefer this style to white. Light reds, slightly chilled, are always an option. Domaine Chapel makes very pure, clean, and juicy Beaujolais. Highly recommended.

Willi Schaefer Riesling Graacher Domprobst Kabinett 2023

A kabi is a must. That combination of blistering acidity and a touch of residual sweetness creates an addictive tension; I can't describe it any other way. It's irresistible; blink twice and your glass is empty. Summer evening, Vietnamese spring rolls, and a Riesling kabi. Nothing more to add.

Domaine Dugois Arbois Trousseau 'Les Trias' 2023

When you think of the Jura, big names like Tissot and Ganevat might immediately spring to mind. A wonderful thought, so hold on to that, but prices are skyrocketing. Besides, it's best to put them aside for a few years. For example, I recently opened Cuvée Florine 2015, a 100% Chardonnay from Ganevat, and it was so beautifully developed that I was immediately a bit disappointed it was my last bottle. But hey, live in the moment. While you can easily keep this wine for ten years, it's already delicious now. It's 100% trousseau, which means: light, very delicate, with hints of red fruit and rosehip. And all for €20.50. A great deal.

Viña del Lentisco Rioja Villota Rosado 2023

Viña del Lentisco, better known as Villota, recently started producing a rosado, which I tasted for the first time during Barcelona Wine Week this year. They call it rosado, but we could also call it clarete or perhaps even light red. It's a serious rosé, with plenty of red fruit, but also fine tannins that give the wine structure. Delicious with a watermelon salad with feta and pistachios. Or steak tartare. Or paella, if you want to stay in the Spanish spirit.
