Sinds de vorige editie uit 2019 is er flink wat veranderd in de wijnwereld. Voor deze negende editie namen Jancis Robinson, Hugh Johnson en Julia Harding MW daarom vrijwel alles opnieuw onder de loep. De teksten zijn uitgebreid herzien, klimaatgegevens zijn bijgewerkt en er zijn 15 nieuwe kaarten toegevoegd. Zo krijgen onder meer Noord-Europa, de Aube, Valtellina, Aragón, de Azoren, Santorini en Kreta voor het eerst een eigen gedetailleerde kaart. Ook klimaatverandering, waterschaarste en duurzaamheid spelen een veel grotere rol.
Inmiddels zijn er wereldwijd 5 miljoen exemplaren van The World Atlas of Wine verkocht, in 16 verschillende talen.
